Divine Physician, You know the pain I have grown used to. The mornings that begin already tired. The nights that never quite give rest. The word from the doctor I did not want to hear. Lay Your healing hand on this body. Send comfort to what aches. Send strength to what is failing. Send peace to the fear that lives beside the pain. Whatever the road ahead, walk it with me. And remind me that I am, still and always, Your beloved child. Amen.

Why this prayer, today.

There is a specific loneliness that comes with chronic pain — physical or otherwise. The people around you may love you, but they cannot enter the room where the pain lives.

Scripture insists that God can. That He sustains us on our sickbed. That He does not turn away from suffering — He draws closer to it.
