✦ The Prayer ✦

God of gladness, it has been a long time since I laughed without a shadow behind it. A long time since joy filled my house without permission. Bring the light back. Not the loud kind of happiness, but the quiet, rooted joy that comes from knowing You, and knowing I am known by You. Fill this home with peace. Fill these walls with laughter. Fill my heart with the kind of joy the world cannot give and cannot take away. Amen.

Why this prayer, today.

Joy is not the same as happiness. Happiness is what happens when things go well. Joy is what remains when they do not — and it is one of God's most personal gifts to those who have known real sorrow.

The psalmist writes of fullness of joy, not just a taste. It is available. It is offered. It is closer than we imagine.

May joy find you today — in a small, unmistakable way.
